is what I sometimes feel like shouting at them.Then I get start to annoyed when commenters praise their work.
"WOW. That is such a gr8 idea! You should totally sell them. I'd defs buy them!!!"
And this just makes me feel jealous and ripped off.
But then I realise, I copy other's work all the time too. Just testing out what I can do, seeing where it goes. I think it's just part of being an [insert word that's similar to, but is not artist*] A prime example of my plagiaristic skill is the two images above. The one on the left is one I drew last year after seeing Studio Violet's cute postcards (right). It's obviously the same moustachioed man, but I didn't admit it at the time. I should have though. And ultimately, I think, it's okay as long as you don't sell other people's ideas as your own. If you publish something extremely similar to someone else's work, link back to them and do not sell it. Ever.
So in this spirit, here are a few of the better space shoe copycats that I've seen around.
*Because I really wouldn't call myself one. Except when my friends joke about me not having a job. In that case, I'm a successful freelance artist, hehe.
